How we met

Rodney and Dana met in 2018 while both were working at the US Treasury Department in Washington, DC. They were intrigued by each other at first sight, although Dana thought Rodney’s work persona was so serious and stiff that he reminded her of Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Rodney believed Dana to be much younger than him, so initially, he wanted to put her in the “friend zone.” Luckily, they found that they enjoyed each other’s company immensely and laughed a lot when they were together. They discovered they had many things in common, including similar childhood experiences and even childhood injuries. They knew it was more than a coincidence that they had crossed paths; it was fate.

The Proposal

After building a friendship for a few years and then dating for a year and a half, Rodney took Dana on a surprise trip to Paris—a place Dana had always wanted to visit and where Rodney had promised to take her one day. They spent ten days in the city, and Dana had no idea that Rodney was planning to propose since Rodney is always very spontaneous. On the seventh day in Paris, Rodney planned a tour to see the castle of Louis XVI in Versailles, which is outside the city of Paris. That night, after visiting the castle, Rodney took Dana to a quaint, romantic restaurant called Vous, where he dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him after dessert. Needless to say, Dana was a blubbering mass of beauty and shock, but she managed to eke out an enthusiastic YES!

Favorite Memories

The first time Rodney kissed Dana. She didn’t even know that he liked her. In fact, Dana had attempted to set Rodney up with her childhood friend, Cristi. She was very surprised, shocked, and looked a little goofy because she didn’t know how to react. After the kiss, it changed the trajectory of their relationship, and Dana discovered that she liked him too. The rest is history!
